Reduced intake of Vitamin C is associated with an increased risk for periodontitis. Low blood levels of antioxidents, particularly beta-carotene and beta-cryptoxanthin, also have been linked to an increase in gum disease. These antioxidents can be found in red, orange and yellow fruits and vegetables. So here is another reason to eat a healthy diet that includes many fruits and veggies.
