Studies have shown a correlation between poor school performance/concentration to children who are mouth breathers at night. Some children labeled as having ADD are simply children who get poorer oxygenation to the blood due to breathing through their mouth instead of nose while they sleep. Sometimes correcting the occlusion (bite) and expanding the palate with an appliance can help. These children may benefit from seeing an orthodontist or an ENT to evaluate the tonsillar area.
